Cancellation Policy

September 2, 2021 by Sahal Bookings

What if a guest needs to cancel because of an emergency?
Sahal Bookings may offer a refund if a guest cancels due to an emergency. Valid documentation and a review of the circumstances are required.

Overview
This Extenuating Circumstances Policy outlines how cancellations are managed when unexpected events beyond your control occur after a booking is made and prevent or make it illegal or impracticable to complete your reservation. This policy applies to all services booked through Sahal Bookings, including Hotels, Tours, Car Rentals, Airport Taxis, and Airbnb stays.

Where applicable, this Policy supersedes standard cancellation policies. Guests affected by a covered Event may be eligible for a full or partial refund, travel credit, or other consideration. Service providers (e.g., hotel partners, drivers, tour operators) affected by such events may cancel without penalties, but their availability may be restricted for the affected dates.

What events are covered?
The following “Events” are covered under this policy, provided they occur after the booking date and prevent or legally prohibit completion of the reservation:

Government travel requirements
Unexpected government-imposed changes to travel visa or passport requirements that prevent travel to the destination. This does not include personal travel issues such as expired documents or denied visas.

Declared emergencies and epidemics
Government-declared local or national emergencies, public health crises, epidemics, or pandemics. Endemic diseases or those commonly associated with the area (e.g., dengue in tropical regions) are not covered.

Government travel restrictions
Legally binding travel restrictions issued by authorities that prevent arrival at, stay in, or departure from the booked location. This excludes advisories or recommendations.

Military actions and hostilities
War, invasions, terrorism, civil unrest, riots, or similar large-scale disturbances that prevent safe travel or service delivery.

Natural disasters
Severe natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, or widespread power or utility outages. Normal seasonal weather patterns are excluded (e.g., monsoon in South Asia).

What is not covered?
This policy does not cover all disruptions. Examples not covered include: unexpected illness or injury, jury duty, transportation delays (flights, buses, trains), local strikes, rescheduled events, or general travel anxiety. In these cases, refunds will follow the provider’s standard cancellation policy.

What to do next
If Sahal Bookings confirms an Event affects your reservation, follow the instructions provided via email or your booking dashboard. If you believe you qualify under this Policy but haven’t received confirmation, contact our support team. You may be asked to provide documentation (e.g., doctor’s note, government advisory, flight cancellation notice).

Other considerations
This Policy applies to bookings with check-in dates on or after the effective date. Certain premium services (e.g., Sahal Luxe stays) may have separate cancellation terms. Please review your booking confirmation for specific policies.

How long does it take to get a refund?
Refunds are typically processed immediately after cancellation approval. Most refunds appear within 3–5 business days, but may take up to 15 days depending on your bank or payment provider. In some regions, such as India or Brazil, refunds may take up to 60 days to fully process.

What if I’m unsure of my reservation’s cancellation policy?
Some bookings may use experimental or flexible cancellation terms. Always refer to your booking details in your Sahal Bookings account or contact us directly to confirm your specific policy.
